On November 3, 2006, Megan Suzanne Vice called "The Tom Leykis Show" to discuss how she fatally avenged her former lover for not paying child support for her son. Below is a transcript of her call—where she gave the police means, motive, and opportunity on a silver platter.

Vice: My ex and I worked at the same hospital; we have a child together….
Leykis: Wait, is he your ex-husband?
Vice: No, we're like an ex one-night stand thing that happened.
Leykis: So, he's not your ex anything.
Vice: Well, he's dead now. [Laughs]
Leykis: He's dead now?
Vice: He's dead now….
Leykis: Wait, wait, wait…we'll get to that part in a second. So, let me guess: You had a one-night stand with a guy and when you told him you were pregnant he said, "That's terrible, please don't have this baby."
Vice: No. No.
Leykis: What did he say?
Vice: He actually was a little bit not one way or the other. He didn't say "Don't have it," he didn't say "Let's get married," he was just like "oh." I was young and didn't quite know what to do, so I did end up having the baby.
Leykis: How old were you?
Vice: I was 19.
Leykis: You were 19, so you were an adult.
Vice: Well, yes, but….
Leykis: Well, yes.
Vice: A little naive, inexperienced.
Leykis: But an adult.
Vice: Right.

As Vice boasted about getting away with murder,
talk radio show host Tom Leykis extracted information
from her that would later be used by police.

Leykis: All right.
Vice: I hadn't had that many boyfriends, that kind of thing.
Leykis: All right.
Vice: I'm a nurse, I work at a hospital. So was he. So, I had the baby and he refused to give me child support. So, since I happened to know where he worked, I petitioned that with the court and they started taking it from his check every month. Well, he got mad, he quit his job so that I couldn't get child support. I got really mad. I went over and tried to talk to him, just about doing some under-the-table money. He wouldn't listen, so I shot him.
Leykis: You shot him?
Vice: Oh, yes I did.
Leykis: You shot him dead?
Vice: I did.
Leykis: And so, how often do they let you make calls from prison?
Vice: I got away with it.
Leykis: How did you get away with it?
Vice: Well, when the cops show up and you're a blubbering, crying woman saying that "oh, he was young, free and such." (He'd been drinking all day, his blood alcohol level was over three times the legal limit. Well, at least that's what the autopsy said.) "Oh, he was young and he just pulled out his gun and shot himself." And I'll be darned if they were okay with that.

The next time Vice makes a confession, maybe she will do it here instead.

Leykis: Wait a minute, Sue, I'm going to ask you a question here and I'm being completely serious because this is very important.
Vice: Okay.
Leykis: All right, so had a one-night stand with a guy and he knocked you up, is that right?
Vice: Right.
Leykis: And you went to him and you told him that you were going to have a baby.
Vice: Right.
Leykis: And he didn't say have an abortion or anything.
Vice: No.
Leykis: He didn't offer to marry you.
Vice: Right.
Leykis: So, you went ahead and had the baby.
Vice: Right.
Leykis: And when you had the baby, he wouldn't give any child support.
Vice: Correct.
Leykis: So, you went to family court….
Vice: Yes.
Leykis: And they started taking the money out of his paycheck.
Vice: Yes.
Leykis: So, he quit his job so that they couldn't garnish the money out of his paycheck.
Vice: Yes.
Leykis: So, you went and talked to him and asked him to give you some cash and he refused so you shot and killed him.
Vice: With his own 9 mm. right in the heart and you know I'm a nurse, so I know right where to aim for.
Leykis: Okay.
Vice: [Laughs]

If Vice had gone through the proper channels regarding child support, this may have been her lover's fate.

Leykis: Okay. Sue, that's good. I'm glad you're telling me this and here's why. Let me ask you a question: So, you went on trial, of course?
Vice: No.
Leykis: You were never on trial?
Vice: No.
Leykis: Let me understand this, you lied to the police….
Vice: Right. I said he shot himself.
Leykis: You said that he shot himself and the police believed it.
Vice: Yes, they did.
Leykis: And so you got away with it.
Vice: Yes, I did.
Leykis: All right, now Sue, do you live in Phoenix or Ahwatukee?
Vice: Ahwatukee.
Leykis: Well, here's the bad news, Sue: Since you never went on trial, you've just confessed on a national radio program to committing murder.
Vice: Well, but you know what, they have to prove it and he's been cremated.
Leykis: Yeah, but they've got your confession on tape. You just confessed.
Vice: But people call up and make stories all the time, Tom.
Leykis: You know what, Sue, I'm going to tell you something, we're an 800 number and when you call in, because we pay for the call, we have your phone number.
Vice: Oh, that's fine. It's not my cell phone, it's my friend's.
Leykis: It doesn't matter because the police department is going to find you and when we find you, you will go on trial.
Vice: [Hangs up]
